Brief HIstory Of Department

The Department of Cardiology was formed in 1998. Under supervision of former professors, training of undergraduate students (M.B.,B.S) and post-graduate students (M.Med.Sc) was contributed since founding of the Department. A three-year Doctorate course in Cardiology (Doctor of Medical Science) was introduced in 2014.

Previously the Department was situated in Thida Hall of North Okkalapa General Hospital. In December 2015, the Department of Cardiology was moved to second floor of Taw Win Hall of North Okkalapa General and Teaching Hospital.

Aim and Objectives

Undergraduate Course

  • To attain general knowledge about basic cardiology and common cardiologic disorders
  • To attain knowledge about basic investigation in cardiology
  • To attain knowledge about treatment and management in common cardiologic disorders
  • To demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge and skill of communication, history taking, recognition and elicitation of basic cardiologic disorders

 

Post-graduate Course: Internal Medicine

  • To provide advanced training in cardiology for common cardiologic problems

 

Post-graduate Course (Dr.Med.Sc; Cardiology)

  • To provide training of advance in Cardiology
  • To upgrade the level of clinical competency, to keep abreast with international level
  • Training in clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic cardiology including international fellowship training
